Vol. 10 No. 2 (2024): Special edition: MASTERS PROGRAM IN CHEMISTRY IN A NATIONAL NETWORK
Profqui is a Professional Master's Program in the field of Chemistry with national offerings in 20 centers. It is coordinated by the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, co-managed by the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) and supported by 20 Associated Institutions.
Profqui has 4 lines of research, namely: LP1 - New technologies and communication, LP2 - Environmental chemistry and energy, LP3 - Chemistry of life, and LP4 - New materials.
In LP1 - New technologies and communication, this line of research explores, in a critical and reflective way, the production and use of information and communication technologies and technological evolution in training, teaching and learning processes. It also explores scientific dissemination as one of the central aspects of the production of scientific knowledge from a historical-social-cultural and theoretical-methodological point of view. It seeks, on the other hand, to produce multimedia materials of a didactic-pedagogical nature that contribute to better performance of chemistry dissemination and teaching activities, including focusing on mobile platforms as vehicles for the appropriation of school chemical culture.
In LP2 - Environmental chemistry and energy - this line of research investigates the historical, cultural dimensions and new scientific, theoretical and experimental approaches to environmental and energy processes in general. It studies the forms of relationship between chemistry and the environment, with a view to being a type of science that manifests itself in society in broad confluence with technology. It seeks to develop product and process projects aimed at use in the classroom, laboratory and non-formal spaces, in addition to evaluating teaching materials and studying theoretical/methodological tools, as well as the scientific foundations that justify them.
In LP3 - Chemistry of life this line of research investigates the historical, cultural dimensions and new scientific, theoretical and experimental approaches to the chemistry of natural products, pharmaceuticals and biological processes. Studies how chemistry relates to other disciplines, such as Biology and Food Science, in the Basic Education dimension. It seeks to develop multidisciplinary projects and dynamics aimed at use in the classroom, laboratory and non-formal spaces, in addition to evaluating and proposing teaching materials, focusing on the theme of Life, in addition to studying theoretical/methodological tools, as well as the fundamentals scientific knowledge necessary for its development.
And finally, we have LP4 - New materials, where it investigates the historical, cultural dimensions and new scientific, theoretical and experimental approaches, the chemistry of new materials and innovation processes, their social impacts, risks and limitations in their different dimensions in contemporary times. It studies how chemistry relates to other subjects, such as Physics and Mathematics, in the Basic Education dimension. It seeks to develop multidisciplinary projects and dynamics aimed at use in the classroom, laboratory and non-formal spaces, in addition to evaluating and proposing teaching materials, focusing on the theme of New Materials and Innovation, in addition to studying theoretical/methodological tools, as well as the scientific foundations necessary for its development.
Several works have been developed in the disciplines, and, as educational products at the end of the Master's degree, in this special volume of Ifes Ciência we present some of the works produced by our students, in addition to a history of the creation of Profqui.
