Abstract

The intention of this text is to demonstrate the protagonism of the Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP) Irê Ayó, developed at the Eugênia Anna dos Santos Municipal School, in the construction of an afrocentric school and developed in a candomblé “terreiro” space, as well as to analyze the aspects that relate this school with technical and vocational education. In this paper, we discuss the implications of the historical process of slavery in the construction of racism in post-abolition Brazil, including religious racism. This process is analyzed through the historical study of the conditions of black population and their access to education. Finally, we analyzed the PPP, verifying the aspects of the document, school and “terreiro” that are related to an education for integral formation.
