ANÁLISE E PERCEPÇÃO DE SEGURANÇA EM ATIVIDADES DE MINERAÇÃO NA REGIÃO NOROESTE DO ESPÍRITO SANTO

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the safety results of professionals working in the mining sector in the Northwest region of the State of Espírito Santo. The work’s issue is to present data and discussions on the number and kinds of accidents resulting from mining activities purposing to alert about the importance of prevention and safety at work involving mineral activities. The research covered the Northwestern region of Espírito Santo, the largest producer and main exporting state of ornamental stones in the country. The methodology constitutes an exploratory case study to which data were collected according to public information provided by the Planning Ministry. It is intended, through the results of the unique nature, to diagnose which cities present the highest number of accidents at work, main kinds and frequency of accidents, in addition to the impacts on the lives of workers in this sector. The research also aims to promote knowledge of the issue for better awareness in the sector, aimed at an analysis of improvement of indicators, related to the safety of activities in mining enterprises. It is noteworthy that the results will serve as a basis for a better performance of public agencies in issues related to worker safety. Condition that currently comes to harm a large number of companies in the State and in Brazil according to data from the Labor Secretary.
