Abstract

Among the challenges of extracting and characterizing ARN from its complex matrix, we propose the use of a new analysis methodology to identify these species in oil samples. This methodology is based on an unconventional approach of using ESI(-)FT-ICR MS, by doping the sample with formic acid to transform the ARN salts into their mono or unloaded form. On the other hand, the successful application of FT-ICR MS in petroleomics depends on data processing methods. In the present study, some multivariate regression models were constructed, using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method, and evaluated with applications in test samples for the determination of ARN in oil samples from FT-ICR MS data.
