VIABILIDADE DE INTEGRAÇÃO DE LAVOURAS CAFEEIRAS E TURISMO RURAL NO BRASIL

The incorporation of activities linked to rural tourism into the daily operations of Brazilian coffee farms is noticeable and mainly aims to expand and diversify the income of those companies. Coffee shops, guided tours, lodging and trade in coffee and other local or regional agro-industry products, stand out. Through the evaluation of management indicators of coffee firms, in traditional producing regions, competitive strategies were observed in areas of advanced or evolving rural tourism related, above all, to the promotion of quality and productivity of coffee plantations. There were no identified local productive arrangements – APLs – specifically oriented towards coffee production and rural tourism together. Deficiencies in the management systems prevailing in the evaluated areas, especially in terms of strategic planning, indicate that companies may face difficulties when dividing their attention between coffee production and rural tourism, despite the strong possibility of integration between these activities.
