INOVAÇÃO TECNOLÓGICA E DESENVOLVIMENTO REGIONAL NO SETOR DE ROCHAS ORNAMENTAIS: A INDICAÇÃO GEOGRÁFICA DO GRANITO DO NOROESTE CAPIXABA

Resumen

The ornamental stone sector represents an important percentage of the Brazilian GDP, but it needs technological innovation to consolidate itself in the international market. The Geographical Indication (IG) is an industrial property asset used to identify the true origin of a certain product or service having an intimate relationship with a locality, region or country, such as notoriety. Some geographic spaces in Brazil are references in the extraction and processing of ornamental stones and have the potential for recognition, registration and seal of geographical indication to be granted by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). Geographical Indications refer to products and/or services that have a specific geographic origin notoriously known that as an intangible asset, the IG adds additional value to a service or product. The recognition of a IG can collaborate with policies that aim to encourage the development of regional products, that is, products or services that have a local identity, fame, reputation so that they are recognized nationally and internationally for having the Geographical Indication seal. , recognizing that territory as a reference in the provision of a certain service or manufacture, production or extraction of a product. Bibliographic, documental and INPI patent database searches were carried out to carry out this work. Additionally, countless technological innovations produced in the dimension stone sector can be legally protected by industrial property, expanding the possibilities of adding value to certain products, processes and services existing in a region.
