The article addresses recent advances in natural sciences, highlighting the importance of
nanotechnology as a transversal and disruptive field. Nanotechnology involves the manipulation of
materials on a nanometric scale (1 billionth of a meter), which provides unique properties and diverse
technological applications, such as nanoparticles, nanomembranes and carbon nanotubes. These
advances have transformed several sectors of society, including energy, health, medicine, the textile
industry, agribusiness, among others. Countries around the world have invested significantly in
nanotechnology, recognizing it as strategic for economic and social development. In education, the
proposal is to integrate nanotechnology into Chemistry teaching, using active methodologies such as
Problem-Based Learning (PBL). This approach aims to promote interdisciplinary and contextualized
learning, exploring contemporary themes such as the production of psychotropic medicines. The
proposed didactic sequence includes everything from critical reading of texts to the creation of
prototypes for the application of nanotechnology in health, encouraging critical thinking and the active
participation of students in the educational process.
