The State of Espirito Santo is characterized by being one of the largest poles of ornamental rocks in the country, specifically, Castelo a city in the South of the state represents one of the largest producers of gray granite. There occurs a monzogranitic named commercialy as Granite Cinza Corumbá. A curious factor in the extraction of these ornamental stones is a hybrid model, when the mining takes place in rocks of rock massive and boulders. However, the rocks are benefits and commercialized as the same material. As it is not common to observe mining in a hybrid model, the present work aimed to compare the technological parameters between the rocks from different mining methods. For this, it performed an analysis of physical indices and petrographic microscopy in both rocks. The rock from boulder mining was shown to be less efficient than that from rock massifs, however, both are able to be used as ornamental covering stones according to the requirements of NBR 15844:2010, having differences in their density, porosity, water absorption and degree of alteration in the minerals present.
