The coffee has been present in the economy of the Espírito Santo state since the early nineteenth century and represents the largest source of income in most of its municipalities. Its production is predominantly based on small family properties, distributed in regions with heterogeneous socioeconomic and edaphoclimatic characteristics and distinct technological levels. Therefore, an accurate management system is very important for the sustainability of the activity. This study maps the level of management of the rural coffee companies in the main regions of the State and identifies the indicators that have most contributed to the observed levels, aiming to guide activities related to the promotion of the sustainability and the regional development. The study is based on the Management Degree Identification Method – MIGG, descriptive statistics and principal component analysis. The results show that the most accurate and homogeneous management systems are associated with Conilon crops, especially in the Mesoregion "Litoral Norte Espírito-santense", while the poorest and most heterogeneous are found in Arabica crops, especially in the "Southern Spirit-santense". The potential for evolution of internal management is great in all coffee regions of the state, regardless of the type of coffee and the size of the establishment.
