Abstract

This article emerged as a consequence of the investigation carried out for the Sustainable Regional Development research. It considered the thematic cut of education to investigate three Planning Micro-regions of the State of Espírito Santo (Caparaó, Central Serrana and Sudoeste Serrana) which, together, total 23 municipalities. The methodology designed for this investigation followed a mixed approach - quantitative and qualitative -, mixing semi-structured instruments (focus groups and in-depth interviews), structured (questionnaires), as well as document analysis resources. Among the main results found in this investigation are evidence that the Covid-19 pandemic has deepened the scenarios of inequality in education. It also showed that the strategies used by state and municipal administrations, to minimize the impacts on formal education processes among students in the micro-regions of Espírito Santo studied, faced difficulties in the technological sphere. Attempts to make physical resources available - supply of equipment and structure -, as well as the lack or inadequate continuing education of education professionals for the development of pedagogical work through remote and/or hybrid teaching, demonstrate a scenario of expansion of inequalities.
